Happy Veterans Day

(11 Nov 08) To all my military Brothers and Sisters - a huge Thank you is in line for all you have done for this wonderful country of ours. Our general American populace - really has no idea of what the military does - and probably a good thing at times. As we all know the majority of them are thankful for our service - those present, past and most definitely future. My hat is off to each and every one of you - and our prayers and thoughts with all of you and your families always.

Here is a link that was sent to me ealier today - hope you enjoy it. Thank You Veterans

Working to make the site better

(10 Nov 08) We have a lot of projects going to make not only this site but GWOT Jobs site better for all of you.

Medics - try this link - https://www.gwotjobs.com/rss/medical_jobs.php

Overall job listings - we are working on making much easier for all of you - it will be a few more days until this link is working right - but it will give you an idea of how much easier life will be in searching for jobs on our site. http://www.gwotjobs.com/data.database/gwot.php

Marketing Flyers - can be viewed and feedback given on them here. We know there are a few spelling errors on a couple of them - we are working on them. Anyways - for those you like - feel free to print off and post where ever you are working at. Also for the ones dedicated to HR personnel - feel free to send them a copy too - this helps let them know you are serious about your own personal security - not just the security they demand from you for their contract.

Latest on the Home Front

(9 Nov 08) Home again for a while - was on short term contract and wife called having some stroke like symptoms. She got to the hospital only to find out she had a tear in her carotid artery which was blocking flow to the left side of her brain. Those of you that recall - all through 2006 she had a carotid artery bypass done from neck to inside of her skull in the temporal region. We spent from Jan 2006 - Mar 2006 in ICU for 48 days - with my wife finally completing speech therapy (last one) first week of Jul 2008. So it has been a long - rough road for her.

This go round - was only 10 days in ICU for a quick bypass of the carotid artery in her neck. Her voice box is paralyzed (same thing happened last time but recovered in about 9 mos) so she is hard to hear - but her speech and all other functions appear to be working great.

For all who have sent the prayers, thoughts, cards, gifts and donations - we truly THANK YOU.

Support for the site

(18 Oct 08) Gents - Ladies - as few of you know - 99% of what we do here at Spec Ops Advantage Inc. (a.k.a. - GWOTJobs) is non-compensated at this point. We do have 3 companies that pay for ads - but they are very sporadic. The reason we keep listing them is to help our prior military Brothers and Sisters find work - and to do so in a safe and secure manner.

I tend to finance all we do for the site through short contract work myself - never been more than 4 mos out of any year so far - and as now - have had to give up 2 more jobs this year already due to wife being Hospitalized once again.

If you can help it would be a tremdous help to us - and I will pull this the moment we are able to handle what we need to do.
Your donations would greatly help me to keep this site up and going. Thankyou!

Get ready for a cruise

(30 Jul 08) OK - all you big money makers out there - time to take that loved one on a cruise and what better cruise than one sponsored by members of Spec Ops. Check out the flyer for more information. Caribbean Cruise They are also seeking donations to take Wounded Warriors as well. So do you part and spread the word. Thanks

Fake Degrees / Dimplomas

(30 Jul 08) WOW - can you say WOW - this is from one diploma mill right here in WA State that was busted and found to have people in some pretty influential positions. Read more about it at: Diploma mill degree recipients These are only for people that used .mil .gov and .edu - email addresses. Absolutely amazing. If this interests you - check out the full list of well over 9,000... Never know who you are working for.

Site has been slow lately

(30 Jul 08) Yes - we know traffic has been a bit slower than normal on our end. We have been extremely busy trying to get the site in tip top shape as we are getting ready to launch our new Secure HR Features.

Update on GWOT Jobs Security

(11 May 08) Unlike any other job board in the world - we claim to be secure. We VET all companies desiring to post jobs to our network and do our best to VET all job seekers. When you forward our link or site to anyone - we ask that you please Cc us so we can VET job seekers much easier. To date we are about 2,000 people behind in vetting. They can still apply to jobs they just can not receive updates on Specific jobs or categories as do vetted members.

GWOT Jobs website has just had vulnerability assessment (VA) testing done by an outside contracted company. This project has taken nearly two weeks to complete. We are proud to announce that while we have a few minor problems with the site functionality (we have this being addressed now) overall security was excellent with no loss of information or accessibility to that information.

Our new SECURE HR features passed with flying colors - no known vulnerabilities found. For the record - we know anything can be broken - but we have two (2) different companies on 3 & 6 month contracts to conduct VA testing on our site. As we all know technologies change all of the time and we intend on staying on top of security for all concerned.

Standard HR practice

(11 May 08) Gents and Ladies - I have heard time and time again - it is standard HR practice. That is - when job seekers apply to a job and all information is passed via e-mail. We completely understand what is meant by standard HR practice - what we do not understand or agree with is the fact that personnel and companies in our business - practice much more than standard HR procedures. Let me explain why - we say that;

Where in the business world do we see e-mails such as this for job seekers (other than our industry - which is still relatively new)?

Job email

This is very standard e-mail to personnel in our job community - though it is missing one thing that we all see time and time again. MUST HAVE Active Secret or TOP SECRET clearance - no exceptions.

Here are a few more I cut from job postings just today (11 May 08) - all sent via e-mail.
***Please send all resumes and DD-214s
***A current TS with access to SCI
***Top Secret/SCI clearance is required

So is this standard HR practice? HR personnel are asking us to send documents that do the following:

Identifies the individual seeking employment or contract
Identifies your home address
Identifies your home / cell phones
Identifies your social security number
Gives ID picture in passport scan
Gives Passport number
Identifies entirely too much information
Identifies your security clearance level
Identifies your specific training levels
Authorization for credit reports or background checks
Direct Deposit Forms
Employment Eligibility form I-9
Medical Certification Forms
Release of Information Forms
SF 86 for Clearance Requests - many ask for a copy

In our line of business there is no standard HR procedures except for those developed by the companies that are in this business of hiring all of us for work around the USA and the world. This standard HR practice was brought in from companies that hire your everyday workers for jobs around the USA - they really did not have a need for any of the numerous documents that we utilize in obtaining the type of employment we are seeking.

Think about it for just a moment. How much information have you sent to e-mails just like the one above. How hard to you really think it is to hack, trace a specific individuals e-mail(s) to gather everything sent to or from them? Would this make for great info for anyone doing Identity theft - knowing most everyone is making 6 figure incomes? How about Terrorist cells possibly developing target folders on specific skill sets or companies around the USA working in the Global War on Terror?

What happens when your identity is stolen? Do you really think that security clearance that HR is saying is mandatory - but they utilize standard HR practice (e-mail) to obtain all of your information, is safe? What happens if you lose your security clearance? We all know all too well how easily we can be replaced - but what happens to companies when they are given the contracts to provide for security related jobs which require clearances?

Any of you - whether seeking employment in these fields or hiring personnel in these fields owe it to each other to work in a much better and much more secure manner. Having worked in this field since 9/11 we have seen just about everything in the e-mail chains. We have finally developed a SECURE HR method which has been VA tested by third party and found to be secure.

With all of you working to keep yourselves safe - we ask you to send this link to all personnel you know that own / operate companies that hire personnel in the GWOT environment as well as to any HR person with whom you have dealt or are dealing. Only then can we become a new Standard Secure HR practice and protect all of us in this new era of identity theft and terrorist environment.

Another source for many in business

(21 Apr 08) In this business - we have many needs. One of those needs is promoting ourselves and our services. When on a shoestring budget as Spec Ops Advantage Inc is at the current time and working to make ourselves marketable to an industry that is already very familiar with our name and services - we need to learn how to find the right personnel / companies to provide us with needed services. I recommend giving Elance a shot - you can check the out - See My Elance Profile through this link. I am quite certain you will be pleased with many of their features as well as variety of services performed.

News for HR personnel and job seekers

(19 Apr 08) We here at Spec Ops Advantage have always talked about security. We are extremely serious about it. While it is very customary in the HR world to work via e-mail it is also relatively new to pass so much information as is required when it comes to hiring for all of these government contracts.

So what happens when you see the email that states - TS required, Send resume and DD-214 to be considered? YES - we see them ALL of the time - think about it. When you send that resume with all of your contact info and a copy of your DD-214 just how safe is your personal info when traveling on the world wide web? What happens if identity thefts find that info? How long will that TS or Secret clearance help to bring you a career that pays relatively well? If you lose your clearance - will that company lose it's contract? That job you applied to - was it a known source - or were you so hopeful that you simply sent it to that e-mail not knowing who it truly is?

Here at GWOT Jobs a.k.a. Spec Ops Advantage Inc. - we take great lengths to ensure that all jobs we post are from legally established companies and set up to do the government contracting. This is not only for your safety - but for ours as well. We also take immense pride in trying to VET all of our personnel that come into our system. This has become more of a problem lately as we grow. We need all of your help to ensure that when you forward our site - that you Cc us a copy so we know the personnel coming in are vetted as well. To date we are nearly 2000 personnel behind in getting everyone vetted. Not a big problem - they just don't get to go on mailing lists until they are. So please help keep the system and network secure on your side as well.

Now - we have developed a new method (software) for you job seekers and the company owners and HR personnel to do business. We have sent out to a couple of long time using companies to test and give us some feedback. Here is what it does in a nutshell.

You apply for a job through our site.
HR receives an e-mail you have applied.
HR logs in download and deletes resume from GWOT Jobs.
HR reviews and decides to give you phone or internet interview
HR sends you a link which has all of the additional forms you need to fill out to be considered for the job.
Seeker downloads forms - fills them out and saves to their computer.
Seeker returns to the HR page sent to them - clicks on upload forms as well as your other documents like the DD-214, Color copy scan of your passport etc. (You get the idea). E-mail is sent to HR that your packet has been uploaded.
HR signs in to their account - your files are all contained in one folder. HR downloads all forms and then deletes them from the secure server.

The entire process is actually extremely easy. What is even better it consolidates much of the work in getting potential employment packets together all in one place. The work of the HR person is greatly diminished because they do not have to chase a half dozen or dozen e-mails for each applicant because the files were so big they can't all go in one e-mail. Everything is in one folder - making the transaction nice and clean - and better yet - much more secure than we are used to.

Employers - HR personnel want to learn more - check out this link

Happenings at Spec Ops Advantage Inc.

(1 Mar 08) We are in the process of working with several course developers to help make their courses available online. It is a lengthy process - but definitely in the works at this time. We are not only looking for courses, but individuals that are into graphics, photography, animation etc - that are interested in getting your products not only recognized but available to those who develp courses for subject matter relating to AT, CT, Homeland Security etc.

Had the pleasure of making a few meetings this past 2 weeks. On 21 Feb 08 - was able to make the Chamber of Commerce after hours with HSA Precision Tactical - meeting and supporting Mrs. Kate Sandefur. Her website is listed under supplies and her business is doing quite well. We invite you to stop by and check out her link under Supplies at GWOT jobs website.

On 25 Feb 08 - while in Pueblo CO - was able to meet Mr. Lark McDonald Director of Ops from Mission-Centered Solutions based out of CO. They appear to have quite a growing business in teaching to fire departments and growing into law enforcement. Impressive operations and growth. Great opportunity for many of our Spec Ops folks in the future. This will be a company to keep a definite eye on.

Security

(1 Mar 08) As most of you know - one of the subject matters I pass on all of the time is security. What happens when you have that Secret or Top Secret clearance and you apply for jobs. Employers and HR personnel are used to working on the internet with e-mail - as are we. However, with the types of jobs that have come about over the past several years - and the paperwork requirements for those jobs - we are passing on more and more information everyday. So just what kind of info are we required to pass in order to land some of these jobs?

Resumes
Passports - mainly colored scanned copies
DD-214's
Licenses
SF-86
Social Secuirty cards and or numbers

No matter who requests or sends the info - we are all guilty of making ourselves targets for not only identity theft - but for possible terrorist targets down the road. So what happens if you are lucky enough to not have the type of training a terrorist would target you personnally for? Well - it leaves you open to identity theft. What happens to your clearance if your identity is stolen? What happens to the company that has to have the employee with a TS (no exceptions) (We see alot of that anymore) and that employees info was stolen because the employees info was stolen while all their info was sent over the internet via e-mail? In all reality - the only one that would suffer is the job seeker. However, employers could potentially become compromised as well.

We here at www.GWOTJobs.com are working on a solution of which we have now developed and are finalizing the testing of in order to provide employers a secure way for you to apply to jobs. Employers interested in being the first - feel free to contact us - as we should be ready for a full launch by end of March 2008.

Spec Ops Advantage Inc.

(10 Feb 08) We invite you to check out our new about us page, mission statement and give us any feedback you may have. As you all know - we have worked extremely hard to keep jobs posted for all of you - as well as working to vet not only members, but employers as well.

Spec Ops Advantage Inc., is now using GWOT jobs website to post all of our jobs. This has saved us many hours of work - and as everyone gets used to it - it will surely save us many more down the road.

Courses for our field of security, antiterrorism, counter-terrorism, etc. Do you have a course you would like to get online? Check out the latest at: AT Courses website. This is coming along excellent - have several instuctors now writing their courses to be put up online. Perhaps you teach PSD - and would like to have your students take an intro course before attending training? Using this platform can allow you to do just that.

For all you team guys out there - you know we have written every class there is for our missions over the years - and in just about every language there is. We are now working on databasing all that info for use by our AD operators and vetted operators in the future. So if you have any of that old - well written training - you would like to share - contact us.

Hiring Companies

(8 Feb 08) We have been going through our list of companies - and there have been a lot of changes. Make sure you do your due dilligence before applying to some - there are a lot that have made great strides out there - but there are a lot that have folded and no longer have paperwork straight to do business. If we are listing their jobs - they are straight for sure.

Another trend coming on - are the requirements for independent contractors "IC's" to become a legal entity. Yes - either a LLC or a Corporation. So be on the watch out for that trend. We know several hundred IC's in that position right now. Actually - this is a good deal - just a confusing one if you have never set up a business before. We are working on the steps to make it easier for all of you once it is mandated.

New Courses upcoming

(19 Jan 08) Several new courses are being added and will soon be open for enrollment.

Working on the following;

Are you in the Security business? Just how secure are you?

(19 Jan 08) This is definitely not a new subject to be heard from me. Do a quick look at your e-mails. Just how many names and e-mails got passed on today through your network? Do you know all of those people? Those jobs that came to you - do you know who the employer is?

The last job you applied for - how did you send your resume?
When you passed your DD-214, SF 86, Passport, Drivers and other licenses - how did you send them?

Employers and HR personnel - do you require potential job seekers to e-mail you all the forms needed to do your job in hiring them? Is your website secure - when you post jobs and accept resumes and other info?

Gents and Ladies - we are all extremely serious about our physical security - making sure everything in our AO is secure. We shred notes and mail, we set alarms on our buildings and have procedures in place for security of sensitive information. So, why don't we do the same for those we are trying to hire?

GWOT Jobs (our job boards) is just the place for you to share and exchange your resumes - and we have plans in place to allow the exchange of all those other pertinent documents securely. If you are serious in your security - we highly recommend staying with a secure server for your jobs - and for those of you applying - a secure place to not only send your resume secure - but in knowing the companies are vetted. You are in the right place - now is the right time to not only practice that security - but to pass the word to help others stay secure as well.

Employers - feel free to contact us for more info on how we can help you keep your potential employees more secure too.

Spec Ops Advantage Inc.

(31 Dect 07) As of 1 Jan 2008 - Spec Ops Advantage will become incorporated. This is done for several reasons - those being;

A few quick stats for you on Spec Ops Advanatge to date:

Interested in Becoming certified in Homeland Security?

(28 Dec 07) Having just come upon this organization - and having already taken the first of a series of 3 tests which has dubbed me certified in Homeland Security Level III - and having perused this particular organizations inside of the membership info available to members - I recommend those interested in becoming certified to take a look at: Certification in Homeland Security Here you can simply use the website - to submit your info. The automation is excellent - and saves me a lot of time. Thanks.

Pass the word on the web sites

(22 Dec 07) Knowing our guys - most of us love to keep our contacts to ourselves. Well that is a good thing - unless you are in fact trying to have more choices of jobs. The more you pass the site on to others out there doing the work overseas and of course here in America - the more the employers will desire to list their jobs through our job website at: www.GWOTJobs.com - So please do your part and pass the word to others you work with - SF, SEAL, ex-Fed agency types, INTEL, CA, PSYOPS, IT personnel - the lists go on and on. Remember the military? Well we all needed support personnel to set up and run all of our missions so we could do our missions. The corporate world is no different - takes all types. So do your part and get them into the best job search system around. We assure you - it will do nothing but bring more jobs for you to select from.

Online Training Portal Is Up - Official Launch is 15 Jan 2008

(29 Dec 07) It is finally here. Spec Ops Advantage Inc. has launched an online training portal for presenting courses to operators around the world that are developed by operators. The concept is - to provide a one stop shop for you to find additional training that is extremely expensive out there - and make it not only more affordable - but easier to access as well. Portal is offline for at least another 10 days while we get the first three (3) courses loaded.

Instructors / Companies think your courses would work online? Interested in reaching a much larger audience - contact us for more information.

Course info, cost and syllabus will be availble before end of next week. Intro to Surveillance, Intro to Red Teams and Terrorist Surveillance Observers Course (TSOC) Phase I of a three (3) phase course developed for law enforcement officers will all be available for launch by 1 Mar 2008. All three of these courses will be 1 week courses with facilitator available through out the course.

Spec Ops Advantage Web Site Makeover

(1 Sept 07) Spec Ops Advantage has undergone a complete web site makeover. We have made the upgrades to the site to make it easier on you. We have taken suggestions from our site users and in turn we have created our new look for our site. The new site is much easier to navigate and is also easier to read. We are currently making updates to the site in order to keep you better informed. Stay tuned for more to come from Spec Ops Advantage.

Disaster Preparedness

(1 Sep 07) Many of you may recall Hurricane Katrina - I know I do. Many of the companies seeking 500 or 1000 men for immediate deployment had passed on their requirements to me - and several of them literally called the next day - asking their ads to be removed immediately as they couldn't keep up with the amount of personnel replying to the old cut and paste ads.

By visiting the new job boards - and applying to the areas listed for Disaster response units - we can ensure that down the road - that not only will we have an extensive database built - but hopefully - you won't have to stand next to some non-vetted guy carrying guns or perhaps performing first aid on you - as happened entirely too much as reported by many of our guys on the ground there. Without preparing - we will surely not be prepared.

Visit the latest job boards at: GWOT Jobs and look for the disaster response jobs to get listed in our database for future needs.

Humor - Only a MAN would do this... I thought of all my Spec Ops Brothers...

A guy who purchased his lovely wife a pocket Taser for their anniversary submitted this:

Last weekend at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Toni. What I came across was a 100,000-volt pocket/purse-sized taser. The effects of the taser were supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on an assailant. The idea is to allow my wife -- who would never consider a gun --adequate time to retreat to safety. WAY TOO COOL!!

Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home. I loaded in two triple-a batteries and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed.  But then I read (yes, 'read') that if I pushed the button AND pressed it against a metal surface at the same time; I'd get the blue arch of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs and I'd know it was working.

Awesome!!! (Actually, I have yet to explain to Toni what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave). Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two triple-a batteries, right?!! There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh and blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong?

So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and taser in another. The directions said that a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water.  Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries.  So, I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side as to say, "don't do it," reasoning that a one-second burst from such a tiny little ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad. I decided to give myself a one-second burst just for the heck of it. I touched the prongs to my
naked thigh, pushed the button, and HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION @!@$$!%!@*!!!

I'm pretty sure Jessie Ventura ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, and body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs.

You should know, if you ever feel compelled to "mug" yourself with a taser  that there is no such thing as a one-second burst when you zap yourself. You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor.
SON-OF-A-... That hurt like hell!!! A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected what little wits I had left, sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace. How did they up get there??? My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. I'm still looking for my testicles!! I'm offering a significant reward for their safe return.

Still in shock, Earl
